The brand name “KAVKIMONO” is a combination of the word “KAVKU,” meaning “chic (person)” or “mavericks,” and “KIMONO,” the kimono used in Kyoto Nishijin textiles.
The brand name “KAVKIMONO” expresses our wish to share our journey with people who are honest about their own feelings, go their own way, and enjoy dressing in their own way.

Everything from designing, cutting, sewing to molding is made exclusively by craftsmen in Japan. And each piece is done by hand.

TAKUMI NISHIDA
Nishida, who designed KAVKIMONO, is a maverick in the industry, working on everything from collaborations with traditional crafts to stage costume shoes for artists in the United States.
Nishida's idea was to create something that had never existed before, and he expressed Japanese culture in his shoes. This thought led to the development of “KAVKIMONO” shoes.
Our concept is to bring uniqueness and playfulness to basic shoes and provide freshness to today's fashion from the feet up. We deliver genuine leather sneakers made in Japan that fit the times by enhancing functionality and quality as well as design.
